Irresistible Italy: Highlights from ViWine Festival 2023

The autumn equinox has come and so has the 4th edition of ViWine Festival 2023 held at the Piazza dei Signori in Vicenza in the Veneto region of Italy. The three-day event from September 22-24 was attended by wine and food lovers from all walks of life as well as members of the trade.

The majority of the wines showcased were produced from indigenous grapes of the region and some with a blend of international grapes that are grown in the said region—from Gambellara, Chiampo, Bassano del Grappa, Fara Vicentino of Vicenza to Monteforte d’Alpone and Lago di Garda of Verona.

Here’s the first part of the great wines we’ve tasted at the festival.

Collis Cantina Veneta

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is from the Collis group composed of villages within the Colli Berici DOC area. It’s fruity on the nose and has red fruits and soft tannins on the mouth.

Federico II

Nani 1967 featured its Tai Rosso DOC made with 100% Tai Rosso grape that is harvested by hand every end of October. This bottle has intense yet elegant flavors in the mouth, notes of spices and cocoa, and is tannic, and the spices of this wine are unforgettable.

Reitia Rosso Verona IGT from Tamaduoli is intense ruby red in the glass, with notes of red fruits, spices, and a long finish. Reitia is full-bodied with soft tannins and overall harmonious in the mouth.
